During the summer of 2018 I had a goal to run in 10 different cities… so in 2019 the bar was set higher and I doubled my challenge. I wanted to try to run in TWENTY cities and I conquered my quest by hitting 22! I love exploring beautiful new places – this year we made it to Sedona, Arizona – as well as visiting old favorites like our annual road trip down to the gulf coast.
The 2019 cities we explored and racked up miles in included…
- Columbus, OH
- Cincinnati, OH
- Castaway Cay, Bahamas
- Louisburg, NC
- Ocean Isle, NC
- Calabash, NC
- Santee State Park, SC
- Savannah, GA
- St Pete, FL
- Port Charlotte, FL
- Punta Gorda, FL
- Manasota Key, FL
- Siesta Key, FL
- Boca Grande, FL
- Chatanooga, TN
- Knoxville, TN
- Sedona, AZ
- Scottsdale, AZ
- King, WI
- Waupaca, WI
- Chicago, IL
- Hocking Hills, OH
Although it’s hard to pick favorites, the most scenic runs are captured by my love of water or mountains. Sedona, Savannah, and the gulf coast cities are probably at the top of my list although the rivers and bridges in Tennessee and rolling trails in Hocking Hills are beautiful too!
My first and likely last city of 2019 (although we still have a month so who knows!) was of course our local hometown, Columbus, Ohio. The “Capital City.” Home of some of my favorite races, fitness studios, running buddies & family. It’s nice to travel and see our country’s breathtaking views & running routes… but it is always nice to come back home.
Thankful for the memories and looking forward to what 2020 brings!
